General description: In the generating sets, A.C. Generators are manufactured and tested as per IS: 4722:1992 and Diesel Engines as per IS:10001. The A.C. Generators, through a high quality flexible rubber coupling, are coupled to suitable Diesel Engines.
Standard ratings of Diesel Generators for single phase,240V,unity p.f. are from 2 to 12.5 KVA and for three phase 415V,0.8 p.f. from 5 to 20 KVA. All A.C. Generators have standard 50 Hz frequency.

Construction : The A.C. Generator is having revolving armature from which output is collected. The stator which is stationary is of robust construction and is made of mild steel and carries four poles, each pole is provided with main and auxiliary field windings. The class F insulation is used in construction.
All windings are vacuum impregnated, duly backed at the proper temperature and then coated with gel coat (Red Beetol) to prevent the ingress of moisture.
The end shields are of cast iron. The screen protection is provided to protect armature winding, field winding and other accessories from dust etc. this also serves as ventilation.

Excitation : The Liberty Generators are self excited self regulated. The generator field retains a high degree of residual magnetism to ensure, that voltage will always build up at starting.

Regulation : Voltage regulation is maintained within 5% of rated voltage and at specified power factor. The speed variation is kept within 4.5% of rated speed of prime mover from full load to no load, the full load speed being the rated speed of prime mover.
All the leads are properly marked by PVC ferrules. The output terminals are housed in terminal box. A cable gland is provided to facilitate the entry of cable.
